Two Strokes Versus Four: Confessions of a Woods Racer
After riding and racing a Husky two-stroke enduro for two years, I sold a bike despite my passion for two-stroke engines. Why would I do such a thing? But first, a woods rider’s perspective on an age old debate. Continue reading

What’s a Dual-Sport Motorcycle? Part 2
In the previous edition of “What is a Dual-Sport Motorcycle?”, I outlined some ground rules and essentially drew a circle around the bikes I feel fit squarely in the segment. If you have the patience, I’m gonna take a deep dive into the specifications of various models. Lastly, I think there’s a demand for a motorcycle squarely in the middle of the segment that I don’t think currently exists from any of the manufacturers. Continue reading

Breakfast was being served at home as I started talking to my fantabulous wife about what was going on regarding the bikes in the garage. “I am so bored of this conversation.” She says. “Every time you want a new … Continue reading

Progressive International Motorcycle Show, Chicago: KTM, Highlights from Team Orange
Like Ducati, I can’t help but feel like KTM runs some sort of unicorn factory. What do I mean, unicorn factory? Take the 1290 Super Adventure for instance, the 1301 cc engine makes 160 HP, while the bike weighs 505 … Continue reading

Random Blurbs: If it costs more it has to be better right?
It’s a given that I cruise a lot of motorcycle related media from day to day. I recently noticed on the Motorcyclist Online Facebook page that they had posted “Motorcycle of the Year” (MOTY) awards for various classes. Apparently I … Continue reading

Snowpocalypse: is riding in the snow possible; if so, at what cost?
The first major snow has just fell in Dayton, and I’m salty about it. Year-round riding is definitely in my repertoire, but at some point, the bike gets parked in the garage. But what if I didn’t have to? Is … Continue reading
Chasing the Big Cat
After riding the absolute snot out of my trusty Speedmaster, I fear we may have reached an impasse: Saddlebags and windshields are ugly on cruisers (sorry, someone had to say it), and worse yet, I hate cleaning chrome. Lola, yes … Continue reading
